The Nutritional and Healthy Benefits of Lobster
Aside from being one of the best-tasting items of seafood, lobster also offers a wide variety of benefits that are beneficial for your health and wellness. Tastes good and good for you? That’s what we call a win-win situation.
Like so many other varieties of seafood, lobster is rich in protein and low in calories and fat. 145 grams of cooked lobster contains over 27 grams of protein and only 129 calories. These healthy attributes are accentuated by only 1.25 grams of fat. This same serving also provides an ample supply of Vitamin A, calcium, and iron. Similar to tuna, salmon, and other kinds of seafood with high concentrations of protein, lobster is also very beneficial for the promotion of a healthy heart. The AHA (American Heart Association) recommends two to three servings of fish a week for adults, and lobster helps moderate cholesterol and reduce inflammation.
Aside from the benefits lobster offers the human heart; there are studies that have linked the consumption of seafood to the reduction of risks of thyroid diseases due to the concentrations of selenium and vitamins. One of the primary attributes that lobster has on the human heart has been linked to other positive effects. Fatty acids, known as Omega-3s, have been shown to not only reduce cholesterol but also provide better mental health and have actually helped prevent cognitive decline and alzheimers.
